This list contains open calls that has come to our knowledge. We are specifically monitoring FORMAS, VR, Swedish EPA, Fysiografen, the facultys travel grants, Stiftelsen Oscar och Lili Lamms minne, and Crafoord foundations for open calls and opportunities. Other funders (see full list list below) are monitored to a limited extent.

Guest professorships relevant for Environmental Sciences and related disciplines

 

Yearly calls, information regarding next call (2025) is expected in January 2025. Previous years, it has been a 2-step with Step 1 submitted to LU March 1 latest, and Step 2 submitted to KSLA June 1st. A successful applicant is expected to spend a full academic year (9 months) at the host institution. The funding from KSLA is maximum SEK 1.3 million per visiting professorship. The total visit may be spread over a maximum of two years, if so agreed with KSLA. During the time in Sweden, the professor and the host department are expected to arrange a public seminar to highlight their research and its societal impact.

LU internal handling procedure has previously been developed and sent out by Research Services.
- Internal selection of nominees, deadline for internal pre-application usually in May.

The guest professorship covers an entire academic year, i.e. approx. 9 months. However, the professorship can for special reasons available is used over a maximum of three semesters. Holders of the visiting professorship can, if deemed necessary expediently, divide their time between several universities. One of these must, however, be administrative and financially responsible. The foundation King Carl XVI Gustaf's 50-year fund grants a one-off grant of a maximum SEK 1.5 million as contribution to costs for the visiting professor's salary, accommodation and travel as well as family trips. Other costs such as management fees etc. must be paid for by the host university.

 

The purpose of the Swedish Research Council’s grant for visiting professors is to give higher education institutions the opportunity to develop a subject area by recruiting an internationally prominent professor during a limited period. Grant period: 6-12 months; Grant amount: Maximum 1 900 000 SEK for the professorship and maximum 500 000 SEK for funding of a junior researcher linked to the professorship.
