Winter loss in honey bees in Sweden

The CEC has produced a new report evaluating analyses and data collection of winter loss in honeybees in Sweden.

Swedish beekeeping rely on the health of the honey bee Apis mellifera. Loss of colonies during winter is an indicator of poor honey bee health.

This report evaluates current data collection of winter loss in honey bees in Sweden, with the purpose to give recommendations for future improvements. The report has been commissioned by the Swedish Commercial Beekeping Association and is written by Ullrika Sahlin from the CEC and Björn Klatt from the Department of Biology at Lund University.
